First boo boo..

Andrew got his first boo boo today. It broke my heart, especially because it was all my fault.  I was buckling him in his car seat and I pinched his chubby cheek in the chest buckle.  He only screamed for a second and then he was over it, I guess I have to get used to it, this isn't going to be his last boo boo!

See the little red mark on his cheek, poor little guy.

Andrew has finally learned to hold his pacifier in his mouth! This helps immensely when he goes down for his naps, until now he needed someone to hold onto it for him while he fell asleep.  Here is a picture of him from yesterday...

And some more pictures from earlier today

I love the way he stretches when he first wakes up from his naps! Also check out all that hair he is growing on the top of his head! Sometimes it looks like it might be turning red...

Smiley baby

Andrew was smiling at me a lot this afternoon, I grabbed my video camera to try and video his smiles.  Unfortunately, he didn't think much of the camera in his face and only smiled once. I got more sneezes then smiles, but I think those are pretty cute too!

Happy Valentine"s Day!

Andrew and I had another busy day yesterday! I woke up to chocolates from my valentine!

I had some errands to run so I got out his baby carrier.. this is my attempt at a self portrait in the bathroom mirror. He really liked the carrier.

We went to home depot to exchange our new porch light for one that wasn't broken and then we went to the grocery store to get stuff for dinner.  Andrew liked the hardware store, we went to the lighting section that had tons on ceiling fans on display, this kid loves ceiling fans!

When we got home Andrew sat in his bouncer while I changed our porch light and cleaned off the patio furniture so we could have dinner on our new patio that got put in this weekend.

Andrew also hung out in his carrier again to help me make dinner, and chocolate fondue for dessert! It was a perfect night for dinner on the patio.

Playtime!

Andrew has started playing with his toys this weekend, he really seems to like this yellow penguin in a bowling shirt. The penguin has a bell inside and crinkly wings. He was trying to hold onto him and get him in his mouth!

My parents came to visit this weekend. Andrew had a good time playing with Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Jenny came over to play some too!

Starbucks!

Andrew woke up in a good mood again today, I think he is a morning person because he is usually all smiles in the mornings.  Today he has been pretty smiley all day!  It has been a gloomy and rainy day but we did manage to get out for a walk.  We met Aunt Jenny at Starbucks down the street. I think I over did it on the dairy yesterday and Andrew has been spitting up ALL day. He even had to wear a bib for the first time today. I had soy milk in my latte today, hopefully we won't go through as many outfits tomorrow!

When we got to Starbucks, Andrew had some big smiles for Aunt Jenny...

The weather was not too bad on our walk over but the wind picked up a bit and it cooled down while we were there. Good thing Andrew had a hood and blanket because it was a bit chilly for our walk home!

Well rested!

Andrew got a great night sleep and woke up so happy this morning! He has been sleeping in a cradle by our bed since he came home but the last few nights I guess he was boycotting the cradle and refused to sleep in it.  Well apparently he is over that now and slept in it all night.  Mommy got to sleep some to! (I could have slept more if I had gone to bed at 8:30 when I put Andrew down instead of staying up until 11 to watch the Tuesday night TV I am addicted to)

We are certainly not sleeping through the night, Andrew gets up at least twice a night, sometime three times.  There is something pretty special about about those moments in the middle of the night when the whole house is quiet, even the dogs are asleep, and it is just me and Andrew walking the hall or snuggling in bed while he nurses.  He usually isn't very fussy at night (unless he is on a cradle boycott) and he just wants a midnight snack and some mommy cuddle time.  I think I am really going to miss that when its over and part of me is not ready to give it up yet, I guess Andrew isn't either! Although I think I could handle doing it just once a night!

Yesterday Andrew and I had a great day! We hung out with Aunt Jenny all day.  We got some coffee, did lots of shopping, and had lunch.  Andrew got in lots of quality nap time in his stroller.  He wore his "My Auntie is Awesome" shirt for Jenny and looked super cute in it!

Super Bowl...

Andrew enjoyed his first Super Bowl party yesterday, well I guess he didn't really enjoy it, he screamed most of the first half and slept the second half.  I think he was just sad that the Steelers were losing.  He did however enjoy some time in the kitchen watching mom and dad make pigs in a blanket and spinach dip to take to the party at one of Kenneth's friends houses. He really likes to sit on the table and watch what is going on.

Here's Andrew making sure we didn't mess anything up. He is covered in drool, I think we are going to have to break out the bibs.

Our delicious pigs in a blanket coming out of the oven (can you tell I like my new camera, thanks mom and dad!) I thought it was funny to bring pigs in a blanket to a party with a bunch of cops, get it... pigs = cops. hehe.

Unfortunately before we left for the party our dumb dogs got in a fight. Luckily no one was hurt and they are friends again now.  Lucy has another appointment with the dog trainer on Wednesday.  Believe it or not this was taken just a few hours before the fight.  They really do like each other I don't know why fight.

Today Andrew had a play date.  We went over to one of my co-workers houses, she had a baby girl the day before Andrew was born.  Another co-worker came by too with her 5 month old son.  There wasn't much playing going on yet but it was nice to talk with some other new moms!

And here is one more picture of Andrew, just cause he's cute...

I don't have any baby pictures of Kenneth so I can't compare them but I say he looks like me!

Happy Two Months!

I can hardly believe Andrew is 2 months old today! It is amazing how much he has grown and changed in just 2 months! Here is is just minutes after being born...

The doctor told us at his last appointment that this month his saliva glands would kick in and he would start to drool some.  Well she wasn't lying, this kid is a drooling machine today.  I can't imagine what it will be like when he starts to get teeth!

An exciting thing happened today, I got Andrew to nap in his crib! I usually feel like spend all day fighting to get Andrew to go down for a nap and he fights sleep with all hes got. He will take a few cat naps on my chest or in his swing but by about 4 o'clock he is one cranky baby.  I was determined to get him to nap in his crib today so when he started to get a little sleepy, I swaddled him, gave him his paci, rocked him, turned on his white noise and put him in his crib... no luck. I had heard that the vacuum helps babies go to sleep so I grabbed my cordless vacuum to give it a try.  About 15 minutes later, the vacuum battery was dead, the floor was clean but the baby was still awake! And he was getting very tiered and fussy.  After a few more minutes of rocking, I put him in his crib and he went to sleep. I couldn't believe it, I had won a nap battle!

Of course it only lasted about 20 minutes and just as I was laying down on the couch to rest he started screaming.... I guess I didn't really win this time. But after a lot more rocking, I did get him to nap for an hour in his swing!

After his nap we played a bit, here are some more tummy time pictures. He is getting so strong, I am such a proud momma!

Family Picnic

Kenneth got me a great picnic basket and blanket for Christmas and we took it out for the first time yesterday.  It was a beautiful day so we packed some strawberries and drinks and went to a bakery and picked up some sandwiches for a picnic in the park. We ate and enjoyed the park a bit then walked around until Andrew got fussy and we headed home.

This morning it has been raining so Andrew and I have been stuck inside.  We decided to give his Bumbo seat another try. This is a picture from when we tried it out a couple weeks ago, it didn't go so well...

Today the Bumbo went over much better! he sat on the kitchen counter and chatted to me while I did the dishes that desperately needed to be cleaned!

I love his little feet, they were still long enough in his chair for me to get a picture!

He really liked when I put the tray on with a toy that played music, he even tried reaching out a few times to spin it himself!

Two month well visit

Andrew had his 2 month check up with the doctor today.  It went well, he is healthy and growing great. Today he weighed 12.0 pounds and was 23 inches long, that is up over a pound and 1.5 inches from last month!  He also had to get 4 vaccinations today, I think it was harder on mommy and daddy then it was on Andrew! The first one was an oral vaccine which he quickly guzzled down (he acts like I never feed him!) then he got three shots in his little legs.  He cried for a minute but quickly settled down and has been doing great since!

Here he is in his swing before we left, I felt so guilty taking him in for shots!

Getting snuggles from daddy after his shots...

Here he is after we got home, notice the band aid on his leg, he has two on the other side...poor little guy!

My first blog post!

Welcome to my first blog! I plan to use this blog to help Grandma and Grandpa to keep up with my son Andrew. He is growing so fast... he is 8 weeks old and yesterday I put him on his tummy and he lifted his head all the way up! Luckily I was quick enough to catch this picture!

Since both sets of grandparents live a few hours away, I am hoping to keep this blog up so they can read about all his milestones and I can post photos.
