2 Wheels

Emily has been working her way up to losing the training wheels on her bike for a while now.  We would go out to play and she would have me take them off her bike, I would help her ride back and forth on the driveway a couple times, then she would ask to have them back on.  She has recently developed a fear of trying new things (which is worlds different than the Emily I knew 6 months ago who would try anything) so this slow process helped her ease into riding with just two wheels.  And about two weeks ago, the training wheels came off for good!  She is so proud of herself!  She has decided that she wants to ask Santa for a Minnie Mouse bike with handlebar streamers, a basket, and no training wheels for Christmas.

Training Wheels

Andrew and Emily are the very best friends, I love how much they love each other.  Andrew is such a sweet natured boy and he really makes the best big brother.

Just today, Emily couldn't decide what she wanted for lunch (decisions can be hard when you are a girl, even harder when you are three!) First she said grilled cheese, then no no turkey and cheese.  Andrew got a grilled cheese and she got her choice, turkey and cheese.  Only by that time, she had changed her mind back to grilled cheese for lunch. After she had a small meltdown, Andrew decided he would give her half of his sandwich...giving up grilled cheese, that is serious love!

They have been wanting to sleep in the same room lately, which is fine...as long as they can stop giggling long enough to fall asleep!  Last night they went to bed and when I went into check on them I found Emily half on top of Andrew with an arm over his neck.  Poor little guy looked so uncomfortable, and she looked so peaceful (and sweaty, why do my kids sweat so much?!).  I snapped a picture and showed them today, they both agreed it was hilarious.

Emily has been practicing her bike riding.  It has been so hot lately we only get out in short spurts.  A few weeks ago, she told me training wheels are for babies and insisted we take hers off.  She can ride about 10-15 feet without them, but was frustrated she couldn't get further.  So yesterday we put the training wheels back on so she could get a little more practice with them.  Lucky for her, she has a big brother who is really good at riding bikes and always willing to help to give her some pointers!

I would also just like to mention that daddy dressed Emily in this dress backwards, probably the 4th time in a row he has done this.  Even Emily told him today "Why do you keep putting this dress on backwards?!"  Fashion is so hard for dads....

Summer Skating

We have been doing lots of summer stuff around here, lots of playing outside, running in the sprinkler, and swimming, swimming, swimming! Today, after swimming, these two begged to go rollerskating!

Emily dressed herself, by the way...she has impeccable style!  She also was pretty upset that I wanted to take her photo while she was skating.

Then we did some bike and scooter riding.

When did this kid get so big??

I asked them to smile pretty for a picture, this is their idea of smiling pretty I guess, Andrew thinks he is some kind of ninja!

OK never mind...don't smile please!

Bicycling

Emily has officially mastered the balance bike. She rides in circles with her little legs sticking straight out! And man is she fast!

Andrew has also made progress with his bike.  For the past few weeks he has been stopping without falling over (finally) and as of today he can push off all by himself!

New driveway time and 2 wheels!

Our new driveway is really long and perfet for racing bikes and scooters.  The only problem is it has no shade like our old driveway had! I can;t wait until it cools off a bit and we can spend more time outside.

Emily is a little maniac on this scooter!

Andrew got a new "motorcycle".  A powerwheels 4 wheeler one of Kenneth's coworkers was getting rid of.  He loves it!  The other day, Kenneth called from work and gave him a job, he needed to take a tarp and cover up the broken down lawn mower in the back yard.  Andrew was SO excited to help out, he loaded the tarp on his 4 wheeler and drove it around the house.

Andrew is almost officially riding a 2 wheel bike!  He can ride, he just still needs a push to get started.  He is so proud of himself, and I am a pretty proud mommy :)
